Description :

We are seeking a_ proactive and organized_ Business Development Assistant to support our business development team in expanding our retail business in Malaysia. You will work directly with the Business Development Lead to assist in site research, coordinate with landlords and contractors, and manage the administrative workflow required to bring a new store from concept to grand opening.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market & Location Research

  • Assist in scouting and identifying potential locations (shopping malls and commercial shop lots) for new Jewel Cafe outlets.
  • Conduct preliminary market research, including gathering data on foot traffic, tenant mix, competitor presence, and target demographics in prospective areas.
  • Compile and maintain a database of potential sites, lease rates, and mall contacts.

2. Vendor & Contractor Coordination

  • Assist in liaising with contractors, interior designers, and suppliers regarding outlet renovation.
  • Track renovation timelines and maintain a master project schedule to ensure the store opens on time.
  • Coordinate the delivery of essential equipment (e.g., safes, furniture, IT equipment) to the new site.

3. Leasing & Landlord Liaison

  • Support the Expansion Lead in preparing and organizing tenancy agreements, offer letters, and other leasing documents.
  • Submit required documentation to mall management, including renovation permits, contractor access forms, and design layout approvals.
  • Act as a secondary point of contact for mall management or landlords for day-to-day inquiries during the fit-out period.

4. Administrative & Opening Preparation

  • Manage utility applications for new outlets (e.g., TNB, water, internet) and local council licensing (e.g., signage licenses, business premises licenses).
  • Create and manage a "New Store Opening Checklist" to ensure all operational requirements are met before launch day.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files for all expansion projects, including contracts, floor plans, and invoices.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Preferably Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Business, Administrative, Marketing or any related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience
  • Required languages: English, Mandarin (spoken & written)
  • Japanese language is a plus!
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have strong negotiation skill
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
