What will you be doing?
The successful candidate will perform diverse job assignments involving manual operations on lathes, 5-axis mills, 5-axis grinders, drill presses, and other standard shop equipment. This role includes more complex machine setups, production on CNC machines with minimal adjustments, and serving as an on-the-job trainer for incoming machinists. Additionally, they will prepare documents, and training materials, and support engineering in validation and plant setup activities.

• Performs all machining functions, specializing in frequent and complex CNC/mill and lathe setup/operations to produce high-quality parts according to specifications. Additionally, proficient in setup/operations on specialty machines.
• Conducts on-the-job training for Level I, II & III Machining skills, creates OJT materials, and serves as a tour guide and induction mentor. Uphold's safety practices participate in setup reduction/process improvement teams and recommend and submit program changes to programmers/engineers.
• Conducts preventive maintenance by inspecting/replacing fluid levels, filters, and belts, utilizing visual inspections and operating a refractometer. Addresses tooling issues by evaluating productivity, performance, and new requirements. Performs routine dimensional and visual inspections using basic measuring equipment. Flexibly contributes to various areas, including packaging, finishing, material deployment, quality, and other machining areas, as requested by the Team Leader.

What will you be doing?

• This role primarily focuses on machining tasks, encompassing approximately 70% of the responsibilities. It involves conducting various CNC/mill and lathe setups and operations to manufacture high-quality parts according to provided specifications. Additionally, the job entails working with specialty machines to fulfill production needs efficiently and optimally.
• Involves training and continuous improvement initiatives. This includes mentoring others in machining skills across different levels, contributing to set up reduction and process improvement teams, and suggesting program changes to enhance operational efficiency. The role also emphasizes the importance of maintaining safety practices within the machining environment.
• Preventive maintenance tasks, tooling issue resolution, product inspection, and providing support in various other areas upon request. The ideal candidate for this position would possess a high school education or equivalent, supplemented by a certificate in Precision Machining Technology. Additionally, a minimum of five years of machining experience and proficiency in reading blueprints and using measuring instruments are required. While initial training may involve travel, subsequent travel requirements are minimal.
