Job Summary
The Relationship Manager – Government Affairs is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and strengthening professional relationships with government sector personnel, regulatory authorities, and statutory bodies relevant to manufacturing operations. This role acts as the key liaison between the company and government agencies to ensure smooth communication, regulatory compliance, and effective handling of official matters that support the company’s manufacturing activities and long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and government sector personnel, regulatory bodies, and statutory authorities
- Maintain strong working relationships with relevant government departments, local councils, ministries, and enforcement agencies related to manufacturing operations
- Liaise with authorities on licensing, permits, approvals, audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions
- Coordinate internally with Operations, HR, EHS, Compliance, and Management teams to ensure timely and accurate responses to government requirements
- Monitor and keep management informed of regulatory updates, policy changes, and government directives affecting manufacturing activities
- Represent the company in meetings, briefings, site visits, and discussions with government officials
- Support compliance-related matters including inspections, factory audits, and official investigations when required
- Assist in resolving issues, queries, or non‑compliance matters raised by government bodies in a professional and proactive manner
- Ensure proper documentation, records, and correspondence with authorities are maintained accurately
- Support management on government‑related risk mitigation, communication strategy, and stakeholder engagement
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Law, Engineering, or related fields
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in relationship management, government liaison, regulatory affairs, or related roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Good understanding of manufacturing regulations, statutory requirements, and government processes in Malaysia
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with government officials
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
- Strong coordination, documentation, and follow‑up skills
- Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an advantage
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience dealing with labor department, regulatory agencies, local authorities, or enforcement bodies
- Exposure to audits, inspections, or compliance‑driven environments
- Experience in EHS, regulatory compliance, or industrial relations is an added advantage
