Job Title: Protege Quantity Surveyor

Department: Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran (JPS)
Location: Kangar, Perlis
Job Type: Contract (Protege)
Contract Length: 12 Months

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Protege Quantity Surveyor to join our team under the PROTÉGÉ Programme. This is a unique opportunity for fresh graduates to gain hands-on experience in public infrastructure projects while contributing to the development of Malaysia’s water resources and environmental management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for project tenders and feasibility studies.
• Manage cost control throughout the lifecycle of construction projects.
• Coordinate and conduct negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Calculate and prepare quantities of materials and work items for procurement and budgeting purposes.
• Conduct on-site measurements to support progress claims and valuations.
• Measure and evaluate variations and changes on-site, and assist in determining pricing adjustments.
• Provide advisory services in resolving disputes, claims, or contractual conflicts.
• Ensure all contractual documentation is in compliance with project terms, conditions, and relevant regulations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD is a plus).
• Willingness to travel and conduct site work.
• A team player with initiative, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
