Business Development Executive

Location: Melaka, Malaysia
Reporting to: Head of Business Development

Position Summary

The Business Development Executive will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in Melaka and surrounding regions. The role focuses on expanding the company’s presence in industrial sectors including semiconductor, oil & gas, tank terminals, manufacturing, and infrastructure, particularly in mechanical fabrication, piping, tank erection, and installation works.

The position requires strong industry networking, client engagement, tender coordination, and strategic market development to support the company’s growth objectives.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Client Acquisition

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within Melaka and nearby industrial zones
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, EPC contractors, consultants, and industrial stakeholders
  • Promote the company’s services including fabrication, installation, tank construction, piping, and mechanical works
  • Arrange and attend client meetings, site visits, and technical discussions
  • Monitor market trends, upcoming projects, and investment developments in Melaka

Tender & Proposal Coordination

  • Identify and track tender opportunities from clients, contractors, and online portals
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Engineering, Estimation, and Management) for proposal preparation
  • Assist in preparing commercial submissions, prequalification documents, and capability presentations
  • Follow up with clients on submitted proposals and maintain regular engagement

Market Intelligence & Strategic Support

  • Maintain a database of potential clients, contractors, and projects in the Melaka region
  • Gather and report market intelligence, competitor activity, and project pipelines
  • Support management in developing business strategies and market entry plans

Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong working relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business
  • Represent the company professionally in meetings, exhibitions, and networking events
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and long term partnership development

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Number of new clients engaged
  • Number of tenders identified and submitted
  • Value of business secured
  • Growth of client network in Melaka region
  • Contribution to overall business pipeline

RequirementsEducation

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in business development, sales, or marketing
  • Experience in EPC, mechanical, fabrication, oil & gas, semiconductor, or construction industry preferred
  • Experience working with industrial clients is an advantage

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Good presentation and reporting skills
  • Familiar with industrial market environment in Melaka is an advantage

Other Requirements

  • Based in Melaka
  • Willing to travel within Malaysia when required
  • Possess own transport

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,700.00 per month
